Common Vaastu Tips


Here we have given the common vaastu tips which will surely benefit you.

• Students should study facing the north or east.


• Do not have kitchen, toilets and Puja-room next to one another.


• Don't arrange kitchen directly in front of the main door.


• Keep all electrical/heat generating appliances in the SE corner of the room.
Don't Keep any broken mirrors in the house.


• Mirrors, sinks, wash-basins and taps should preferably be along the NE wall.


• The safe should open towards the north or the east. So, keep it along south or the west.


• The toilet seat should preferably be along the North-South axis. The septic tank can be in the NW or the SE corner of the House.


• Avoid having garbage dump, street-light pole, or boulders in front of the main gate or door.


• Your main door should not be opposite the main door of another house.


• The number of doors and windows should be more on the ground floor and less on the upper floor.


• The image of Gajalaxmi at the main door is considered auspicious.


• The north-east corner is the face house and should always be kept clean.


• Do not sit or sleep under a beam.


• Do not hang a painting depicting war, crime, unrest, agony or distress.


• Construct the front door in such a manner as to avoid the fall of a shadow on it.


• Grow a tulsi or basil plant in front of the house.


• Do not have any cactus in the house. Having it outside the boundry is good.


• Rain water or drainage should flow towards NE-East-North.


• Material to be used in the construction activity should always be new, expect in the case of renovation.


• Elderly people are always more comfortable in the South-West corner.


• The height of the building should reduced from the SW to the NE.


• Walls along the SW should be thicker as compared to walls along the NE.


• Bhumi-pujan ceremony should be performed before commencing on the construction of a new house and Griha-pravesh ceremony before shifting into it.


• Do not have a toilet or puja room under a staircase.


• A well in the middle of a house or plot is very inauspicious.


• In an office or home, the north east corner must be left empty.


• In a kitchen, Do not place the refrigerator close to the washing sink. Also the water and fire conflict must be avoided.


• The bathroom must not be close to the kitchen.


• Kitchen taps must be placed in the north east corner of the kitchen.


• The person cooking must face East preferably.

According to Shastras, if we worship, revere and respect the lords of these eight directions, they will shower on us their blessings and benefits.
1. Esshan ie Ishwar(North-east) - He grants us wisdom, knowledge and serve all comforts and relieves us from sufferings.
2. Indra(East) - He is the king of angels. He gives wealth and all pleasures of life.
3. Agni/Fire(South-east) - He gives us beautiful personality and all the best of life.
4. Yamaa or Yamaha(South) - He is god of death. He is embodiment of dharma. He eradicates evils and grants all good things.
5. Nissan or Niruti (South-west) - He vanishes fear about our enemies.
6. Varun(West) - He is god of rain. He showers his blessings through rain and brings prosperity and pleasure in life all round.
7. Vayu/Wind(North-west) - He bestows on us long life, health and strength. He is the basic of all life.
8. Kuber(North) - He is god of wealth. He grants us wealth and all comforts of life.
